Average rent rates in US dollars in Kyiv 28% down in 2009

The average rent rates for one-, two- and three-room apartments in Kyiv in 2009 fell by 27.88%, to an average of $438, according to a press release of Kyiv-based SV Development consulting company.

The company said average rent rates last year fell in all Kyiv districts and in all segments of housing.
Pechersky District is the most expensive, where rent rates of one-room apartments over the period fell by 21.37%, to $458 per month, rent rates for two-room apartments by 27.26%, to $615 per month, and those three-room apartments by 26.76%, to $751 per month.

According to the company, Darnytsky District remained the cheapest in average rent rates, where rent rates for one-room apartments over the period went down by 37.51%, to $250 per month, while those for two-room apartments fell by 30.27%, to $350 per month, and three-room apartments by 27.35%, to $442 per month.
According to SV Development, the largest number of apartments was offered for the period under review in Shevchenkivsky District (17%), and the smallest number in Podilsky district (6%).
The change in the average rent rates was calculated on the basis of actual housing rent deals in Kyiv.
